as a result of the pandemic and travel restrictions we are experiencing a high level of demand. We will do our utmost to help accommodate guests but must still adhere to government advice.
We continue to use our Kerry Hill fleeces to make duvets and use as insulation for our refurbished bedrooms and new Update office. We hope to be printing a textile for curtaining based on the fleeces and eyes and markings of these special sheep.
Cliff Top. We think everything is in good order.
East Hott Bank Now there is a door from the sitting room out onto a west facing deck complete with glazed cabin, to better enjoy the beautiful surrounding views to the Crags and Lough.
Overcliffe Has been repainted outside and is now the pink house on the beach rather than the white one! The ensuite bedroom downstairs has been redecorated as well as the sitting room. The hillside has been planted with narcissi and camassias.
Queen Street Anti Seagull spikes have been fitted on the Penthouse Roof so no more snow-shoe, tap dancing Seagulls!! The Pizza oven door has been made and fitted.
Croft Cottage This 2 bedroom Stable Block conversion with two sunny terraces and private parking overlooks fabulous gardens and is on the Dales Way. Already proving an international hit! Galvanised steel gates with inserts of Agate slices allude to the flow of the adjacent River Wharfe; to commemorate the Queen's 90th birthday.
The Cottage, Dunstarn can also be booked through Air B and B. We have hosted 2 outdoor theatre events and a promenade theatre event and our rare breed Cleveland Bay Holly gave birth to Duncan in Spring 2020. Lambing came and went in March lockdown and Haymaking in July 2020. 2021 lambing was drive for the most part and Holly is hopefully in foal again. Our two llamas have not prevented fatal dog attacks and a late lamb was attacked by a fox and killed. The drive spring means we will only make 10 acres of hay for this Autumn.
What's happening in the future.
More outside than in at EHB. A Moon Walk with Ghost Birch trees underplanted with cyclamen. An Observatory built to take advantage of EHB unique position following the Dark Sky National Park initiative. The Sill is open and worth a visit.
Several large paintings by Artist Kitty North have been completed, showcasing the unique postions and atmospheres of several of the holiday cottages.
The refurbishment of our most recent acquisition is complete and let for 12 months. We have developed the 'interesting' design thread and reconfigured the rooms, planted an orchard and developed a wild flower meadow and lily pond. Watch this space.
We hope next to obtain planning permission for the 'mini stone barn' at EHB and create a single bedroom wildlife viewing barn.
