5 Clifftop Cottages

Filey, East Yorkshire

Clifftop is a pretty, painted Coastguard’s cottage with unrivalled sea views of Filey Brigg, Filey Bay and Flamborough Head, situated in the quiet ‘Old Filey Town’.  Broadband is available at the cottage and there is a mobility suite for those with limited mobility, with a single bed and wheelchair access and loo.

The cottage is easily spotted from the beach as it is now 'custard cream' in colour.


There are 4 upstairs bedrooms. Supplied with duvets, pillows and bedcovers comprising; one 6’ double bed, one 4’6” double bed, one 3’6” single bed and two 6’ bunk beds. We have  upgraded the  pan-tiled outbuilding and created a 'mobility suite'. This includes a heated single bedroom with single bed and ensuite wetroom so that anyone with limited mobility/wheelchair user  or indeed anyone who wants some quiet R and R space, will be able to access full ground floor facilities. The wheelchair ramp has glow lights and lights up at night through solar powered pebbles.

The bathroom has a bath, washbasin and toilet with an original sliding stained glass door. There is a downstairs electric shower and loo.

Sitting Room

There is also a small double sofa bed in the sitting room which has a gas coal fire, TV, comfortable armchairs, settee and window seat.


The galley kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, cooker, fridge, freezer and microwave, leading onto a dining conservatory which can seat up to 10 guests around the extending pine dining table.

Reading Room

With new fittings and furniture this room works well for those wanting to read or use their computer it  has a working open fire, phone and storage cupboard.


There is also a garden dining table and benches so that the fabulous sea views can be enjoyed at all times of the year, outside or in.  Fixed garden seating, herbs, roses and lawn. 

Two cars have reserved spaces on hard standing at the property and additional car can be parked in the Courtyard.


Clifftop has a front and back door the front door leading down through charming public gardens with some steps to the beach or from the back entrance down Sands Lane (no vehicles) which has both steps or a flat path suitable for wheel/pushchairs. The beach and Cobble Landing facilities are 2 minutes walk away.


There is a small selection of games, beach equipments, BBQ etc for guest use.


Clifftop is within easy reach of a variety of local shops, cafes and pubs and is a great base for the beach, sailing, walking, golfing and cycling.

Clifftop is dog friendly.

The property is centrally heated and decorated in ice cream colours with a combination of antique and contemporary furniture.


We are very happy to propose things to do during your visit and regularly update the website with suggestions.


Clifftop can be rented in conjunction with our other Filey property 85 Queen Street
which is just 20m away. Gill looks after both houses and her husband the gardens.

What to do?

Concerts at Leeds Arena, visit relatives, enjoy the Leeds Indie Food Festival, exhibitions at the Henry Moore Gallery, golf the wonderful courses of Alwoodley and Moortown, shop to your heart's content or search the visit Leeds or websites. All with a stay at Dunstarn Cottge, Leeds.

Our inaugural outdoor picnic theatre event  Pride and Prejudice was held in 2017 at Dunstarn Farm Adel Leeds 16 by Chapterhouse Theatre Co. 250 guests attended. 2018 we  performed Robin Hood . 2019 we took a break and hope to be back in 2020.
