Gibbes Cottages are located via a private right of way, a 4 minute walk from Gibbes Beach, Saint Peter, on the outstanding West Coast of Barbados.
 

Neighbouring Mullins Beach has the casual Adrian's Corner rum shack, best island rum punches at 10$ bajan,  rental sun loungers, water sports and Sea Shed and The Royal Westmoreland Beach Club restaurants. 
 

There are daily flights from Heathrow and regular tri-weekly flights from Manchester from Nov to April with British Airways, Aer Lingus, TUI and Virgin Atlantic. The flight is around 8.5 hours in to  Grantley Adams Internatinoal Airport which is just south of Bridgetown and about 7 hours returning to the UK.

Filling out the online customs and immigration travel form using the below portal can save time at arrivals. Once complete you will receive a QR code which prevents queuing and having to complete the form at passport control. There is a duty free shop next to the incoming luggage carousel for last minute cocktail ingredients.

The journey by car from the airport is around 45 minutes depending on traffic. There are plenty of taxis outside the airey terminal building and ample adjacent parking for pick up and drop off. There are also buses to Speightstown which drop off at the bottom of the short drive at Gibbes.

Car hire is available at around £30/50 per day. Those over 70 will need a local medical permit to drive, easily available from an on island GP. We use Dr Persaud 246 4320830, costing about 80$ bajan. An airport transfer both ways costs about $120 bajan. We use Shafer Jordan on the number below . He delivers a car to Gibbes and arranges insurance and license at the house.  Drive-A-Matic is located on the left of Arrivals.

If you decide against hiring a car, it is worth noting Barbados has a large public bus service (yellow buses) there are also multiple blue buses, charging approx BBD$3.50 for any length of route and run all over the island. They are quite flexible on drop off locations and provide loud music entertainment!
